CAFOW carries out community based sensitisation and education campaigns on regular bases within rural and sub-urban communities around the country. These could be organised by CAFOW; or by another organization/association within the network of NGO and association in related domain. The themes of such campaigns are among others sexuality, STI's and HIV/AIDS; family planning and welfare; prevention and management of malaria and tuberculosis; encourage cancer screening and hypertension control in both men and women; promotion of vaccinations against common diseases within the community;
BREASTFEEDING DEMONSTRATION
CAFOW, in partnership with various health facilities provides pre-HIV screening counselling to clients and patients of those facilities. CAFOW does this with the help of its trained volunteer counsellors or through volunteers available in the network of organisations in the fight against HIV/AIDS. CAFOW also provides post-screening counselling to the infected and affected members of communities.
CAFOW provides information on accredited health centres for the management and treatment of TB, STI/HIV/AIDS and hypertension; and other chronic infections. CAFOW has also made some donations of medical supplies to some health facilities in Bum subdivision; medical supplies donated by the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
In partnership with the Association Camerounaise pour le Marketing Social, (a PSI sponsored social marketing organization based in Cameroon; involved in the prevention of HIV/AIDs, malaria and promotion of reproductive health) CAFOW is involved in the distribution and education on use of mosquito nets to sub-urban communities in the Centre Region of Cameroon.
CAFOW is on the list of organisations in the Ministry of Health in Cameroon recognized to be able to provide training to individuals, groups, communities and healthcare service providers in the domain of HIV/AIDS counseling and psychosocial assistance.
CAFOW also provides specialized training to healthcare
service providers on prevention and management of blood exposure accidents in the work
place.
